Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, the International Olympic Committee representative to the Philippines, will head the IOC Urban Cluster Committee for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
It will be the first chairmanship for Cojuangco-Jaworski, who left for the IOC headquarters in Lausanne for the initial gathering of the Urban Cluster Commission.
As chairman of the committee, which decides on the clustering of venues for new sports such as sport climbing, 3×3 basketball and skateboarding, Cojuangco-Jaworski has five other IOC members working under her committee.
“I’m hoping that the efforts of the committee will keep the sports more exciting and relevant for the youth,’’ said Cojuangco-Jaworski.
Aside from the committee gathering, she will also grace the presentation of the IOC Evaluation Commission for the 2024 Olympics.
Cojuangco-Jaworski, who is also a member of the Evaluation Commission, recently went with the committee chaired by Patrick Baumann to Los Angeles and Paris, the top two bidders for the 2024 Summer Games.
Apart from these committees, the daughter of Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose Cojuangco Jr. is also a member of the IOC Education, Tokyo 2020 Coordination, Communication and Olympic Channel Commissions.
