Five Female boxers from the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines left for New Delhi, India to participate in a joint training camp leading to the AIBA World Women’s Championships to be held in the Indian capital on November 13-24, 2018.

The team is bannered by veteran pugs, light flyweight Josie Gabuco (Gold, World Championships, 2012) and bantamweight Nesthy Petecio (Silver World Championships, 2014). Rounding up the line-up are Irish Magno (51 kg), Aira Villegas (54 kg) and Carolyn Calungsod (60 kg).

ABAP and POC president Ricky Vargas sent off the team with a message of support saying ā€œ the Philippines has a tradition to uphold in women’s boxing. We realize that the competition has gotten tougher but we have faith in out boxers. You will constantly be in our prayers. Mabuhay ang boksingerang Pilipino!ā€

Coaches for the team are Nolito Velasco and Rolando Galido. Team Manager is Ms. Jeaneth Aro.

ABAP’s Ms. Ma. Karina Picson will be in the tournament but as an International Technical Official (ITO) appointed by AIBA (International Boxing Association).
